Court order keeps Pro-Medic ambulance service in Alamo

ALAMO — Last week, it appeared that the city of Alamo was getting set to change its ambulance provider, Pro-Medic, because of its failure to live up to the agreement it had with the city: 95 percent of all emergency calls will be covered by an ambulance crew in 10 minutes or less. But any dismissive action has been put on temporary hold, thanks to a restraining order signed last week by County Court at Law #7 Judge Sergio Valdez.

Before last Tuesday’s city commission meeting, the city held a workshop during which Pro-Medic’s emergency response times were reviewed. Between June 2013 and December 2013, Pro-Medic met its 95-percent obligation five of the seven months. And the two months that they failed to meet that number, they came in close: 92 and 91 percent. But it’s the months before that, that the report appears the most troubling.
