Yogi Berra – so long to a national treasure

The good news is, Yogi lived to be 90. The bad news is, he’s no longer among the living. A sad day for his legions of fans, including this writer. He died Sept. 22 of natural causes during his sleep. A national sports treasure. That’s what Yogi Berra was. He lost his wife of more than 65 years, Carmen Berra, to a stroke last year, and that knocked the wind out of his sails. For guys who have been married that long, losing a wife is too often the start of their own decline.
