It's a hit!

EDINBURG — There seems to be something special happening at the UTRGV baseball stadium this season. It’s following on the footsteps of a successful volleyball campaign and postseason invitations for both the men’s and women’’s basketball teams.

The most recent “happening” was a two games to one series victory over Chicago State University over the weekend. Even though a five-game win streak was snapped, the Vaqueros improved their record to an impressive 20-11 (six of those losses coming to nationally ranked teams Texas Christian University, Oklahoma State and University of Texas) and 6-3 in the Western Athletic Conference.

The UTRGV baseball team hadn’t swept a Western Athletic Conference opponent since the 2016 season, but did so recently against Northern Colorado University.

Second baseman Anthony Gomez was a part of the 2016 team as a freshman. Three years later he said things are playing out the way players should expect.
