An Eventful Week

The death toll continues to rise in Afghanistan among cave-dwelling terrorists near the border with Pakistan. Initially the deployment of the MOAB bomb was thought to have killed 36. A London newspaper went to press criticizing the USA for spending $450,000 for every jihadist killed. That cost soon dropped, however, as the death toll rose steadily to nearly a hundred. In effect, our military had wiped out an entire cell which was terrorizing local villages. More importantly, the explosion also destroyed a section of the tunnel complex, which will put a real crimp in the efforts of terrorists in Pakistan to use the tunnels to infiltrate Afghanistan while avoiding detection from the air. The bomb did its job while saving American and Afghan soldiers from facing booby traps they would have encountered if they had entered the tunnels themselves. One wonders where else MOAB might be profitably deployed.
