Day One, Plus or Minus One

The morning before inauguration day I took the Metro in to the Capitol to have coffee with Senator Cornyn and close to a hundred other constituents who were in town for the upcoming big event. John told us of his excitement because since WW2 there had only been fourteen times that one party held both houses of Congress and the presidency. Of those fourteen, Republicans had only had that advantage THREE times. Each group of constituents then had their pictures taken with the senator and stayed to watch the Lil Wranglers, a square dance troop from College Station made up of young people (the youngest of which was nine).
