Claims of Incompetence

A few days before Hurricane Harvey made landfall, a liberal news source published a blistering attack on President Trump’s ineptness and incompetence in preparations for Hurricane Harvey disaster relief. That was only one of a string of articles criticizing Trump for poor preparedness. The first beef was that he was taking too long to fill the vacancy for FEMA administrator. That was, of course, partly because of having to work so hard to get senate confirmation for his other appointments. When he did submit his appointee to the senate in late April, however, his choice was approved by a lopsided 95-4 vote. Brock Long had lead the Alabama Emergency Management Agency through his state’s response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill as well as handling numerous other natural disasters He was known for his efficiency under stress.
