PHARR-Petra R. Garza, 90, died Thursday, February 20, 2014, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. Born in Dr. Coss, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and had lived in Pharr most of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Garza. Mrs. Garza is survived by four children, Maria De Lourdes (Armando) Alonso, Maria Irene (Adolfo) Alonso, Martin Garza, all of Pharr, and Rosie (Don) Blanton, of Dallas, TX.; 8 grandchildren, Lurisbeth Alonso, Daisy Alonso, Adolfo Alonso, Jr., Hebert Alonso, Ivan Alonso, Brandon Garza, Tristan Garza, and Karina Garza; a great-granddaughter, Aliyah Harris; and a brother, Jesus (Velia) Rios, of McAllen. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in San Juan. Interment followed at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
