ARTURO SALINAS
ALAMO - Arturo Salinas, 72, went to be with our Lord Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Amara Hospice Inpatient Facility in Edinburg.
Born and raised in Alamo, he was a man who enjoyed the simple things that life had to offer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Gregoria Salinas, and Antonio and Paula Lopez; four brothers, Trinidad (Maria) Lopez, Benito (Juanita) Lopez, Joel Lopez, Daniel Lopez; his father and mother-in-law, Elido “Chale” and Gila Garza; six brothers-in-law, Ernesto Ventura, Rudy Espinosa, Rodrigo Ramon Jr., Charlie Garza, Juan Mariscal and Rene Olivarez; and a sister-in-law, Minerva Mariscal.
Arturo is survived by his wife, Josie Salinas of Alamo; three sons, Arturo “Archie” (Becky) Salinas of San Juan, Felix Charles “Chuck” (Dora Gonzalez) Salinas of Pharr, Oscar “Okie” (Minerva Echols) Salinas of Alamo; five grandchildren, Krystin (Danny Herrera) Salinas, Derrick Salinas, Braedon Salinas, Ava Salinas, and Evan Charles Salinas; a great-granddaughter, Kaylin Salinas Herrera; four sisters, Delia Espinoza and Yolanda Ramon, both of Alamo, Mari (Roy) Maldonado of Albuquerque, NM, Licha Ventura of Rupert, ID; sisters-in-law, Celia Lopez of Rupert, ID, Grace (Richard) Garza, Cory (Ed) Ramirez, Diamantina (Trino) Lopez and Vicky Garza; a brother-in-law, Rey (Mary) Garza; numerous nieces and nephews; and several Godchildren.
Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Monday, October 16, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment followed at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Military honors were conducted by Catholic War Veterans.
Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
