Donna ISD board will vote to appeal

TEA wants to increase oversight

DONNA – A book could be written about the lawsuits, arrests, and turmoil that surrounded Donna ISD during the course of late 2014, 2015, and 2016 right up until the November 2016 school board election swept the old guard entirely away and replaced all six incumbents with new trustees.
Without at least several hours of research, looking back over the old stories published in The Advance, it would be impossible to quickly recap the entire sordid history that included, last but not least, a school district attorney who was also a convicted felon, who was being paid a $25,000 monthly retainer, and that didn’t include his per-hour rate of $225.
The laws have since been changed. If a lawyer is convicted of a felony today, he or she will forever lose his/her law license. Donna ISD’s high-priced attorney prior to the November 2016 election had been convicted of laundering
