Will Delgado’s arrest lead to more federal charges?

How many more, if any, judges currently occupying court benches inside the Hidalgo County Courthouse are going to be charged with federal crimes now that a state District Court judge has been arrested? Are some attorneys going to be charged as well? Nobody knows but the feds, and they aren’t talking.
Silence on the part of the feds, however, doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of gossip flying around the courthouse ever since FBI special agents took State District Court Judge Rodolfo “Rudy” Delgado into custody Friday, Feb. 2. After spending the weekend inside a cell at the East Hidalgo Detention Center in La Villa, a federal criminal complaint was unsealed in federal court the following Monday morning, charging the seasoned judge with bribery that allegedly occurred over a 10-year span. Since then, a visiting judge has taken Delgado’s bench inside the 93rd state District Court while the judge now under fire presumably spends time with his two attorneys, Al Alvarez and Fernando Mancias, building a defense.
