MARIA “MAGGIE” HINOJOSA
EDINBURG – Maria “Maggie” Hinojosa, 60, went home to our Lord Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at her sister’s residence in Edinburg.
She was a beloved teacher for 29 years in the Mission and Edinburg School districts. She was a strong woman of faith, who actively took part in prayer groups through her church. She touched the heart of all those she knew and will be sorely missed by many.
“Maggie” is preceded in death by her father, Concepcion Hernandez; her grandmother, Brijida Martinez; three siblings, Maria Del Rosario Ramirez, Luis Hernandez and Martha Gonzalez.
She is survived by her son, Juan Artemio Hinojosa of Edinburg; two daughters, Veronica Hernandez of Edinburg, Laura Hinojosa of San Antonio; her mother, Bernarda Hernandez of Edinburg; seven siblings, Dolores (Tony) Canales of McAllen, Raul (Stephanie) Hernandez of Edinburg, Alicia Salinas of Corpus Christi, Lupita Hernandez, Connie Hernandez, Ana (Albert) Alvarez, all of Edinburg, Dr. Maricela Hernandez of San Antonio; two aunts, Teresa (Joe) Vega of Edinburg and Ventura Ortiz of Port Arthur, TX.
Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral services took place at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment followed at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Edinburg.
