RUBEN SAUL GUERRA
SAN JUAN - Ruben Saul Guerra, 69, died Thursday, December 21, 2017, at McAllen Heart Hospital.
Born in Rio Grande City, he was formerly of San Isidro and had lived in San Juan since 1990. Ruben was a veteran of the United States Army who served during Vietnam and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eduardo and Luciana Guerra and a brother, Edualdo Guerra.
Ruben is survived by his wife, Juanita De La Rosa Guerra of San Juan; three children, Michelle (Daniel) Ramos of Austin, James Michael (Tara) Guerra of Georgetown, Timothy Martin Guerra of San Juan; five grandchildren, Jonah, Nathaniel and Eden Ramos, Emerson and Ainslee Guerra; a granddaughter by heart, Sarah Olivarez; a sister, Olga Rodriguez of McAllen; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen. Pallbearers will be Armando Reyes, Tirso Garza, Nathan Sanchez, Gabriel Murillo, Lupito Garza and Christian Sanchez. Mel Rios will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
