Attorney Salinas slams the jury

In a story published in The Advance two weeks ago, the son of 96-year-old murder victim “Marty” Knell had nothing but kind words to say about the 12 jurors who convicted Monica Melissa (Palacios) Patterson Nov. 1 of capital murder. Her sentence is life with no chance of parole. The jury also convicted her of theft from a nonprofit (The Comfort House hospice), for which she got hammered with a 75-year sentence. In the words of Mark Knell, the victim’s son, the jurors were “courageous.” Knell also had nothing but praise for the Hidalgo County DA’s office and the prosecutors who led the charge – Joseph Orendain and Cregg Thompson; the two lead investigators, Texas Ranger “Chris” Callaway and Hidalgo County
