It appears to me that the double standard the press has long imposed on Republican office holders has become even more pronounced concerning the Trump Administration. The president’s critics are free to criticize his every word and move, but it is unbecoming for him to respond in kind. Schumer can attack his every legislative proposal, but when President Trump tweets that the diversity lottery that brought the latest mass murderer into the country was Schumer’s beauty, it is unseemly for the president to politicize a tragedy. (Somehow, however, it is never wrong for Democrats to use every shooting as a sounding board for calls for gun control.)
