Lone trustee resurrects “investigation”

McALLEN – McAllen ISD Superintendent Jose A. Gonzalez received a pay raise last month, but it wasn’t by unanimous consent, and with the pay raise, came some “fireworks” in the form of a verbal exchange between several of the board trustees.
Despite the pay raise, Gonzalez’s salary is still nowhere near what IDEA PUBLIC SCHOOLS Superintendent Tom Torkelson is earning per year, $450,000. Neither is any other public school superintendent based in Hidalgo County earning anywhere near Torkelson’s salary.
