Bill O’Reilly was on vacation in Rome. When, however, he entered the airport to return home, he learned that he no longer had anything to fly home to do. He’d been sacked by the Fox News board in his absence. Politics played a large part in his dismissal. Rupert Murdoch’s sons now play a large part in running the Fox empire, and they aren’t (according to both Glenn Beck and Dick Morris) nearly as conservative as their dad. They wouldn’t mind, the theory goes, lower ratings if Fox News were made more respectable by moving to the center.
