More news than anywhere else

If there’s a county in the U.S. that has more local news than Hidalgo, please name it.
On The Advance News’ radar already this year, we’re working on the following stories:
• Hidalgo County hands the Cullen Looney family $1 million to buy out the “reverter clause” in the deed to the current courthouse, even though the location of the construction of a new $150-million courthouse (pre-change orders) is still plagued with questions and doubts.
• The Edinburg EDC has hired an auditor to review all of the deals, leases, incentives, and contracts previously in place under the old administration. It’s also moved its offices to city hall so that all city development services can be housed under one roof. The EDC has already cut off some dead weight. More on that next week.
