Embattled state District Court Judge Rodolfo “Rudy” Delgado is leaving little doubt that he’s not simply going to roll over and cop a quick plea deal with the feds after he was arrested Feb. 2 and charged with, in so many words, accepting a bribe from a local attorney in return for a favorable ruling for his client. In the criminal complaint attested to by an FBI special agent Feb. 2, 2018, the bribes between the two had been an ongoing business arrangement dating back at least 10 years.
Delgado, who’s sat on the bench of the 93rd state District Court for close to two decades, has yet to be indicted by a federal grand jury, which is expected to convene relatively soon in a Houston federal courtroom because the federal charges against “Rudy,” as he’s known to friends, were filed there as opposed to McAllen.
