Good news for history lovers: Old Pharr Kiwanis building won’t die

Built in 1929, the old Pharr Kiwanis building on Park Avenue just across from the post office does indeed show signs of wear, but thanks to the local Kiwanians who still meet there, a major renovation will soon be under way.

Currently, there are two Kiwanis clubs that meet there – the morning club and the noon club. Now, both are joining forces to make sure that the building lives on.

There are some cracks on its west wall. A leveling company is coming out this week to assess what will be needed to secure its foundation.
