By golly, “Dolly” dumps Pharr settlement

It would appear that former Pharr City Attorney Katie Klein has found a cottage industry: suing the City of Pharr. Currently, filed with the Hidalgo County District Clerk’s Office, she has five civil suits pending, and she’s just taken on another if things go her way: Namely, Pharr employee and plaintiff Dahlia Cano Ybarra who initially sued the city, alleging sexual harassment, seeking $1 million for said harassment. Instead, after more than a year spent taking depositions, filing motions, her attorney of record, Gustavo Acevedo, mediated a settlement with the city for $27,500 (little less than 3 percent of the $1 million); the city commission approved the settlement, which would be paid out by the city’s insurance carrier; and everything looked like the sex harassment suit had been brought to a close.
