First journalist murdered less than two weeks into the new year

Sad, sad, sad. Less than two weeks into the new year and already presumed drug-cartel-related violence has claimed the life of a working journalist, 77-year-old Carlos Dominguez Rodriguez, who died on the streets of Nuevo Laredo in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas last Saturday.
More bad news: Last week, the U.S. State Department issued a revamped advisory about travel into Mexico. Five states now have the sternest warning possible: “Do Not Travel.” Those states include Tamaulipas, Sinaloa, Colima, Michoacan, and Guerrero (think Acapulco).
