DA’s race hurdles toward finish line

Once political allies, incumbent Hidalgo County District Attorney Rene Guerra and his opponent in this year’s Democratic Primary, former state District Judge Ricardo Rodriguez, can toss that former friendship out the window as this season’s election races toward next Tuesday’s finish. Or so it would appear. But in Valley politics, today’s friend is tomorrow’s enemy and vice versa, so who can say for sure. Usually, though, when the political campaigns get personal, that’s when the lifelong grudges develop. And talking to both candidates this week, it would indeed to have turned personal.
