DA’s office serves subpoena on former SJ City Commissioner “Eddie” Suarez

With the Aug. 14th capital murder trial of Monica Melissa Patterson fast approaching, barring any unforeseen delays, the number of subpoenas issued by the Hidalgo County DA’s office has to be nearing a record number. Without taking an exact count, by looking at court documents filed with the district clerk’s office, the number of subpoenas served thus far is somewhere in the vicinity of 100.

Presumably, not all of those subpoenaed are going to be called on to testify after the trial begins, but it’s apparent from the sheer number issued that the DA’s lead prosecutor in this case, Joseph Orendain, wants to cover all of his bases, and have potential witnesses on standby.
